This young man brought his maths book today. He has been multiplying by 10 and 100 using his knowledge of decimals and place values in order to solve two step word problems. Sounds complicated doesn’t it?!?!
Not for him. He really has had to work at it – there are some bits that got him confused – but he has shown great tenacity (look it up!) and shown by the end that he has understood and can complete the work successfully.
Remember, you really do need to stick at things in order to reach understanding and mistakes along the way are a good thing, perhaps even essential.
